As you would step inside this apartment from the 1930s, you’d feel echoes of history—craving a breath of fresh air. Studio Cosmo took up the project of adding a modern flair to this timeless space. Enter the Scandinavian Modern style, a design concept that adds simplicity and warmth to the interior. This aesthetic has transformed the once-dated apartment into a bright and airy haven.
You may have heard the foyer sets the tone of the home. This space tells us how! The light walls, wooden flooring, and charcoal cabinetry come together to prepare you for the impressive design story you’ll be in for. The accent feature is the round mirror, brightening up the space.
The combined kitchen, living, and dining area perfectly captures the Scandinavian modern aesthetic. Sleek white cabinetry—paired with marble backsplash—takes up one entire wall. This provides functionality while lightening the color scheme. This is paired with the light oakwood flooring and dining table warming the space up.
A sleek overhead chandelier adds organic forms to the interior while illuminating the space. The effect of light is best enhanced by the windows without any treatments. These allow natural light to highlight the wooden features.
In the living area, we see a cozy gray sofa. A special mention to the minimal console table with accessories and potted plants (a must in the Scandi-style!).
Walking into the bedroom, we see a comfy bed with blankets—giving it a lived-in feel. The wall opposite the bed is covered by white cabinetry (we especially love the wooden hardware) and a compact workstation. The powder blue color of the workspace adds visual interest, while the storage cabinets provide optimum space to keep essentials.
Last (but definitely not least), the bathroom. This features a penny-style pattern, which singel-handedly adds visual interest. The vanity features a vessel sink paired with minimal gold hardware and wooden cabinetry. Simultaneously, the bathtub gives residents a chance for a good soak, while the shower cubicle—with its recessed shelving—makes sure the space is as functional as it is stylish.
