The series adaptation of George R. Stewart’s 1949 novel Earth Abides is officially coming to a screen near you, if you happen to have MGM+.
The streamer released a trailer for the show today, which gives us a rundown of the show’s plot, which is also summed up in the series’ official synopsis:
“It has been an absolute thrill to adapt George Stewart’s sci-fi classic. And an even greater honor to deliver a show that is custom built for our moment in history,” showrunner Todd Komarnicki, whose previous credits include the movie Sully, said in a statement. “Because amidst all the wild adventure and story twists and turns, Earth Abides provides proof that the one way forward for humanity is… love.”
Earth Abides stars Alexander Ludwig, Jessica Frances Dukes, Aaron Tveit, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, Elyse Levesque, Luisa D’Oliveira, Birkett Turton, Hilary McCormack, and Jenna Berman.
The show joins the other post-apocalyptic series out there (think The Last of Us, Station Eleven, and Fallout, just to name three) when it premieres on MGM+ on December 1, 2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
