It’s been a year since the first half of Outlander’s seventh season aired, but the wait is almost over. Part two arrives next month, and a new trailer promises a whole lot of ocean-crossing, time-spanning drama. Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) get home to Scotland, but it seems like they hardly have a minute to breathe before an urgent request comes from the other side of the sea.
At New York Comic Con, executive producer Maril Davis told audiences, ““It’s such an emotional roller coaster, season seven—death, loss, redemption. Everything is in the second half. It’s even better than the first.”
Though this is only the seventh season, Outlander has already hit its 10-year anniversary, which had the last looking back on their beginnings. Heughan said, “I think we both thought it would only last a season or two. Eleven years later, eight seasons, 101 episodes, we are so thankful.”
Here’s the synopsis for the new episodes:
Outlander has one more season to go after this; last year, it was announced that the eighth season would be the last for Claire and Jamie. What’s more, author Diana Gabaldon has confirmed that the adaptation will not end the same way as the books, the 10th of which has not yet been published. But the Outlander universe will continue with the prequel Blood of My Blood, which will air sometimes in 2025.
Outlander returns to Starz on November 22nd.
