House of the Dragon Finds Roddy the Ruin, Ormond Hightower & Ser Torrhen Manderly

Filming for the third season of HBO’s House of the Dragon is underway, and we’re getting news about some new actors we’ll see in the land, seas, and skies of Westeros in the upcoming episodes.

We found out in late January that James Norton (The Nevers, Happy Valley, pictured above in center in McMafia) joined the show as Ormond Hightower, whose official character description (per Variety) reads as “Otto’s (Rhys Ifans) nephew, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).”

Today, Warner Bros. Discovery shared that Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy, Gladiator) and Dan Fogler (A Complete Unknown, The Walking Dead) join Norton as newbies on the call sheet.

Flanagan is playing Ser Roderick Dustin, aka Roddy the Ruin. Those who’ve read Martin’s Fire & Blood know that Roddy faces off against Ormond Hightower in a major altercation, which strongly suggests Flanagan and Norton will at least act against each other on a bloody battlefield at some point.

“I don’t want to say much because I think this is one of those truly memorable Game of Thrones characters, and I’m very excited to bring him into the fold,” House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal told Entertainment Weekly. “But he is a fixture in Fire & Blood, and I think he’s one of those true fan favorites. I’m very, very proud of the role that we’ve written.”

Fogler will be playing Ser Torrhen Manderly, who Martin describes in Fire & Blood as brusque and gluttonous, but fair.

No news yet when we’ll see season three of House of the Dragon streaming on Max. icon-paragraph-end
