Tamara still isn’t here, but death is! We have a trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2, the second in a proposed trilogy from director Renny Harlin. The first film—The Strangers: Chapter 1—came out this May, and it looks like Madelaine Petsch’s Maya is in for more attempts on her life in the second film.
It also looks like events pick up almost immediately after Chapter 1, with the trailer showing Maya in the hospital, presumably recovering from what she went through in the first feature. This makes sense given that Harlin filmed all three movies at the same time.
The trailer also teases the return of the three strangers who knocked on her cabin door in Chapter 1: Dollface, Scarecrow, and Pinup Girl, their names coming from the masks they choose to wear. Poor Maya, it seems, has gotten into a car with them after presumably escaping the hospital. Oops!
The Strangers remained deeply committed to ending Maya’s life, for reasons we’ll likely never understand, as that’s part of the premise of the franchise. What depths they’ll go to in order to end Maya remain to be seen, but odds are good they’ll get pretty creative in their attempts to murder her before the trilogy ends.
The script for The Strangers: Chapter 2 comes from Alan R. Cohen, Alan Freeland, and Amber Loutfi. The film is set to come out sometime in early 2025. No news yet on when the third movie will make its way to theaters.
