Scandinavian design elements shape this stylish modern home interior in Chisinau, Moldova. Belonging to a young couple, the apartment has a fresh feel that’s warmed by swathes of natural wood tone and smoothly rounded silhouettes. The homeowners have a passion for design objects, art, music, fashion, travel, and mid-century modern architecture. This spirit is evident in the succinct sense of style that’s revealed throughout the 90-square-meter residence. The owners developed their inviting interior style with the help of designers Anna Wigandt, Lena Kurasevichi, and Денис Каунов at Anthem. The team ushered in organically curved boundaries to evoke a welcoming ambiance and incorporated striking white marble to elevate the scheme.
Immediately from the entryway of the home, rounded walls create a soft and welcoming flow. Crisp white walls give way to warm wooden paneling that smoothly merges with a wooden kitchen installation.
Chevron wood flooring brings a subtle pattern to the minimalist home interior. A small wooden stool adds convenient seating to the home entryway. A unique wall mirror provides a place to check appearances before leaving home; its glossy black frame creates a modern juxtaposition with the natural wooden paneling behind.
At the other end of the small sofa, a slimline black floor reading lamp provides task lighting. An iconic Flos Taccia table lamp, designed by Achille Giacomo and Pier Castiglioni in ‘62, draws attention from a low wooden bench behind the couch.
The TV is housed on slender black tension shelving, along with a host of decorative vases and books. Lightweight beige drapes frame two large windows, melding gently into color-matched living room walls.
The sofa breaks the open plan living space creating two defined areas–one for the lounge and the other for a neatly proportioned kitchen diner.
Wooden kitchen cabinets establish an earthy feel to the room, while dramatically veined white marble instills a sense of luxury. Countertops are kept free of clutter and small appliances to maintain the minimalist aesthetic of the home.
The white marble backsplash is matched with a solid marble kitchen countertop and an integrated sink. Integrated kitchen appliances give the one-wall kitchen installation a streamlined look.
Open shelving in the kitchen provides the young homeowners with the chance to display just a few of their most stylish kitchen accessories, including a set of unique salt and pepper shakers.
The dining area is a chic arrangement of striking mid-century modern dining chairs and a chunky black oval table with a tactile grain.

A reeded glass vase continues the retro design flavor in the dining room. A sprig of greenery is added to heighten the dining table centerpiece.
The corner of the dining room, next to the large window, is well-utilized for display shelving. The shelving nooks are built into a narrow alcove and made part of the greige wall stucco. Design objects from the couple’s travels decorate the niches.
Venetian blinds filter direct sunlight, leaving the eating area in comfortable shade when required. The six dining chairs are the Chandigarh chair, aka the Easy Chair, by Pierre Jeanneret.
In the minimalist master bedroom, warm white walls remain blank and peaceful to promote relaxation and sleep. A white, upholstered platform bed is matched by a modern white bedside table. Layered white bedclothes conjure a clean and inviting aesthetic.
Two globe wall sconces light the first nightstand. The opposite side of the room is furnished with a more curvaceous side table to achieve a subtly asymmetrical layout. A tasseled rug peeps out from under the bed, providing a soft landing each morning.
The walk-in wardrobe is fitted with a bespoke closet system of garment shelves and clothes rails. A freeform full-length mirror and a small wooden stool adorn the closet entryway.
The guest room doubles as a home office. A sleek wooden desk design slides across the window to make the most of the natural light. A ‘67 Flos Snoopy table lamp, designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, is on hand after dark.
A flatweave rug underlines a small white sofa to create a snug area in the home office. The couch can also be used for occasional impromptu guests. A wooden side table holds the homeowner’s current reading material. A small black floor lamp makes the sofa into a cozy reading nook.
Reeded wall tiles texture the small bathroom. Black bathroom faucets, a black flush plate, a bidet attachment, and a coordinating black shower fixture darkly punctuate the light walls. A wall-hung toilet makes the small floor area appear larger.
A recessed nook cuts into the wall behind the bath to make a shelf for soap and lotion dispensers. The freestanding bathtub has a unique silhouette, which adds interest to the simple bathroom scheme.
The opposite wall of the bathroom is home to a floating vanity unit with storage drawers. A black bathroom faucet contrasts the sleek white bathroom vanity and its smoothly integrated basin. A custom-cut, full-length bathroom mirror is installed behind the unit. Its frameless design creates an optical illusion that helps the small room feel more spacious.
